Third in Charge

What is your name and role?

My name is Taylor, and I am the Third in Charge at Monkey Puzzle Woodford.

What fills your heart with happiness about your role?

I love learning new things, maintaining relationships with my key children and other children within the room. Working with my team to grow and develop our environment as well as each other also fills my heart with such happiness.

How did you get your career started?

I started my career at Monkey Puzzle Woodford in October of 2021, as a Nursery Practitioner and very quickly worked my way up to becoming a Room Leader, which was a role I already had experience in from my previous setting. I then became the nursery’s Third in Charge in June 2023 and since then feel like I have grown and learnt every day.

How are you supported at Monkey Puzzle to develop and progress your career? (What training/development do you access?)

While at Monkey Puzzle Woodford, I have completed the DSL training, and am currently enrolled on a Leadership Programme, First aid at work course and fire marshal training.

What is your potential next step?

I look forward to continuing to grow with Monkey Puzzle into a possible junior deputy role.

What would you say to anyone with a choice of early years childcare as a possible career path?

I would say, do it! This job opens so many doors of opportunity within the Early Years sector. I love my job!
